Introduction of TX Barcol Impressor

The Barcol impressor is also called Barker hardness tester, which is earliest produced by American Barber Colman company. The Barcol impressor consists of 934-1,935-1, and 936-1 etc. Among them, the 934-1 type Barcol impressor is applied to test aluminum, aluminum alloy, and the improved 935-1 and 936-1 type could test soft metals, soft plastic, leather, rubber and wood.


The Barcol impressor has wider test range than Webster hardness tester, and it could be applied to test the thick wall aluminum alloy profiles which the Webster hardness tester could not test. The Barcol impressor's operation is very simple, and the test process could be finished just with one hand. Barcol impressor has 100 graduations. Its sensitivity is much higher than the Webster hardness tester.


The relevant standard is American standard ASTM B648-00 Test Method for Indentation Hardness of Aluminum alloys by Means of a Barcol Impressor, and the ASTM D2583-07 Test Method for Indentation Hardness of Rigid Plastics by Means of a Barcol Impressor.
