First: Be sure that you choose the proper indenter and anvil before testing. This device is equipped with the diamond indenter and flat anvil before leaving factory. Before using the tester, check if the indenter has retracted into the upper anvil. If not, turn the hand wheel to bring the indenter back into the upper anvil. It is very important, Otherwise, the indenter will be damaged when fixing the tester and the work piece.
Secondly: if possible, it is better to use the tester in a horizontal way to operate and get the reading easily. We use diamond indenter and 150kg total test force to test HRC scale. check the position of needle, it shall rest exactly on the red dot“0”， if it does not, turn the dial gauge to let the needle point to red dot”0”.Put the specimen vertically on the side of upper anvil, regulate the handle tightly and fix the specimen. Finally screw the locknut tightly
Thirdly: Slowly turn the hand wheel clockwise to bring the needle to the position of initial force 10Kg.and then Set reading line in static barrel aligned with full-scale line in dynamic barrel. You will find there is a long black line in static barrel, turn the dynamic barrel, let the full scale line in dynamic barrel aligned with the long black line. The full scale line means the line with scale B 130 and scale C 100. And then load the total force 150kg, keep 3-5 seconds, and then unload total force completely within 2 second to its initial force 10kg, you can get reading now, read HRC scale accordingly . Finally turn the needle to red dot, the indenter will take back into the upper anvil. Operation is finished. If you want to test M scale, you shall choose 6.35 ball indenter and 100kg total force, and finally read the scale B in dynamic barrel
